This table shows the composition of ownership of firms in Poland. It is based on a survey of 208 manufacturing firms in 1993. The dominant type of ownership is defined as the form of ownership that includes more than 50% of shares of the firm. The ownership type "outsiders" does not include foreign investors, which are grouped in a separate category. The table categorizes the surveyed firms by dominant ownership type and gives for each dominant ownership type the percent of shares held by different ownership forms. Thus the columns should add to 100%; they differ slightly from 100% because of rounding errors.
This table shows that, in terms of shareholding, the dominant forms of ownership in Poland are relatively distinctive. The most significant combination of ownership forms are between foreign investors and the state. In other types of dominant ownership, non-dominant forms of ownership have less than about a 10% ownership share.
