Isaac E. Omolo Okero

Appointed Chairman of the Board of Kenya Airways, February 1996.  Age 66, Mr. Omolo Okero read for a BA degree at Makerere University and thereafter obtained an LLB degree from Bombay University.  He is a Barrister of the Middle Temple and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.  He worked in the Civil Service between 1962 and 1969, initially in the Attorney General's Office where he rose to the position of Deputy Public Prosecutor, and subsequently as Commissioner of Customs and Excise between 1965 and 1969.  He had a successful political career between 1969-79 as Member of Parliament for Gem Constituency.  He served as a member of the Cabinet and was successively Minister for Health, Minister for Power and Communications, and Minister for Information and Broadcasting.  He is currently Chairman of the Intellectual Property Tribunal and the Kenya Air Operations Association.  He joined the Board of Directors of Kenya Airways in April 1991.
