I could not find the number of registered borrowers for states not listed in this table.
Some of these numbers are based on listed aggregate statistics. These do not account for non-reporting, i.e. an individual library reports population served, but not registered borrowers. For California, libraries that did not report registered borrowers made up only 0.8% of total population served.
Duplication of borrowers and population served across libraries creates errors in these statistics. For borrowers and population served on the state level, I have typically chosen total borrowers and total population served (includes duplication across libraries).
