Mountain Climber


Our hero faced not just the challenge of an exhausting ascent, but he also had to overcome the fatigue from a previous night's heroic deed.  His lovely wife had accompanied him on the previous day's training to ensure that he didn't get hurt.  As fate would have it, she herself suffered a serious fall and a suspected broken bone.  Our hero sprung forward and prepared to carry her in his arms to a hospital over fifty miles away.  But she insisted that her finger did not hurt that much and that she would prefer that he just drove her there.  Thus through the night he drove.  Once the best possible medical care for his wife was assured, he drove furiously back to the ominous mountain, arriving just in time for the 5 a.m. start of the ascent.  Our hero had not a wink of sleep all night.
